Glaucoma is currently the second leading cause of blindness in the United States. Glaucoma is an eye condition in which the fluid that circulates inside the eye is produced in to great a quantity or does not drain out of the eye properly. Glaucoma causes a loss of the peripheral vision first, followed by a loss of central vision. Since glaucoma is usually painless, it can go undetected for years. Therefore, only by having a comprehensive eye exam can glaucoma be accurately detected.
